Full Time
• Licenses: U.S. Coast Guard (100 gross ton) and FCC Radio Operator
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Master in New York Harbor
• Strong analytic, organizational and communications skills
• Detailed-oriented, able to lead and motivate team

Responsible to act as master of the vessel and assuming primary responsibility for vessel operation including safety of the passengers, crew and vessel.

• Maintain United States Coast Guard Masters License for operation of a passenger vessel
• Responsible for the daily vessel departures in a safe manner according to the rules and regulations of the United States Coast Guard
• Pilot the vessel with the safety of the passengers, the crew and the environment foremost in mind including periodic weather checks
• Provide narration of safety announcements through the vessel public address systems.
o Advise that passengers may depart after the vessel is safely secured to the dock and the gangway is in place
• Perform routine inspections of the vessel and its components, checking on all operating, safety equipment and radio components to ensure that the vessel is seaworthy in every respect 
o Inspect operational status of emergency backup controls on a daily basis prior to departing homeport
o Inspect and fill engine fluids prior to getting underway, ensuring that the vessel has extra fluids on board at all times
o Inspect and pump all voids prior to departing homeport and while on shift as needed
• Responsible for overseeing the management of all crew
o Perform inspection of vessel crew to ensure adherence to the Company’s uniform policy, cleanliness and ensuring safety preparations are performed
o Reinforce procedures for prompt and courteous customer service at all times
o Assign and direct the work of all crew, perform periodic performance appraisals
o Assist in the training of all crew as well as identifying and reporting any training needs
• Enforce all company policies regarding performance and procedures and lead by positive example
• Communicate any operational problems or potential problems to engineering
• Submit Vessel Inspection Reports, Passenger Count Sheets and any other required paperwork as required
• Perform monthly drills as required by the Coast Guard and enter them in the Captain’s logbook
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned
