Position Summary and Responsibilities:
The Global Head of Sales will clearly define sales and strategic objectives with accountabilities that support the Teledyne Marine sales plan. These include the refinement and ongoing enhancement of a detailed business plan and budgeted targets for sales volumes within the Teledyne Marine segment. The Global Head of Sales primary activities include developing and executing a product line-based business development strategy that aligns with the overall Teledyne Marine sales strategy, is consistent with Teledyne Marine companies operational/production capabilities, and fits within the financial/economic realities within the Teledyne Marine operational budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
This role will be responsible for achieving volume, share, and price objectives for the product line.
Assists in the formulation of product line-specific sales & marketing strategies.
Executes the strategies as defined and periodically reports progress to senior management.
Identifies and understands current and unmet needs for existing and potential customers within targeted market segment and translates this information into sales opportunities.
Understand and communicate the quality of products, services, and resources employed by relevant competitors.
Continuously monitor competitor activity, communicate and recommend any necessary actions.
Based on backlog and market intelligence, develops relevant and accurate forecasting for the product line, and action plans to meet targets.
Collaborates with cross functional Teledyne Marine Area Sales Managers to complete detailed due diligence, market research, and cost estimations to prepare and submit RFP’s for opportunities that meet stated deadlines.
Works closely with Area Sales Managers, Application Sales Engineers, Inside Sales Managers, Customer Service Team, Marketing, and Operations to ensure One Goal/One Team collaboration with Teledyne Marine clients.
Achieves targets for the sustained development for the product line (share, volumes, ASP, profitability).
Collects market intelligence and thoroughly understanding product line.
Develops effective relationships with key accounts, cross-functional TM sales teams, and channel partners.
Supervisory Responsibilities                                                     
This job provides general supervision to a functional area which could include supervision of other exempt and non-exempt personnel.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include providing leadership to employees, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Bachelor’s Degree (MS preferred) in science, engineering or equivalent experience required.
Required Experience
Minimum 10 years technical sales or sales management experience in a high technology market.
Hydrographic, Oceanographic or Hydrologic applications experience highly desired.
Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills.
Proven problem solving capabilities and resourcefulness.
At least 40% travel, both domestically and internationally, with the ability to conduct business independently and professionally throughout defined sales territory.
Occasional lifting (up to 50lbs) to include demo systems, laptop computer, and promotional material.
May require occasional work in a Marine environment on or near small boats or larger vessels.
Candidate must possess U.S. citizenship in order to obtain security clearance.
Physical Requirements
Requires frequent sitting and repetitive movements of the wrist, hands and/or fingers.
Occasional-frequest standing, walking, twisting & bending at the neck/waist, stooping or kneeling, pushing/pulling.
Frequent lifting/moving/carrying items up to 50 lbs to include demo systems, laptop computer and promotional materials.
Requires clear vision and ability to identify and distinguish colors.
Ability to reach below and above shoulder level.
May require occasional work in a Marine environment on or near small boats or larger vessels.
