Oceanology International 2016 in Review

(MIA) has launched an industry Code of Conduct in respect of surface maritime autonomous systems (MASs).   The Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) has formed a seventh focus group for its maritime engineering membership which will be led by the maritime autonomous systems (MAS) Council. Sakhalin Energy Names BMT for Weather Forecasting

BMT ARGOSS (BMT) has been appointed by Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. (Sakhalin Energy) to deliver weather forecasting services to support their onshore and offshore operations in the Sakhalin region, off the east coast of Russia. As part of a long-term contract, BMT’s 18 strong team will provide weather, wave and current forecasts, as well as tidal information to help support offshore drilling operations.  Marie-Jette Wierbos, Forecast Manager at BMT ARGOSS explains: “The conditions are very harsh in Sakhalin and forecasting the weather can be extremely challenging.

BMT ARGOSS Provides Metocean Support to Energean

BMT Group subsidiary BMT ARGOSS has recently completed an assessment of metocean conditions to support Energean’s Prinos and Epsilon oil field developments in the Gulf of Kavala.   Located in the Prinos-Kavala basin, situated northwest of the island of Thassos and some 18 kilometers south of mainland northern Greece, the Prinos oil field is the main structure with Epsilon a satellite field. BMT Delivers Metocean Support for Total Norge AS

BMT Argoss, a subsidiary of BMT Group, recently completed a comprehensive evaluation of meteorological and oceanographic environmental conditions for the Martin Linge field in the Norwegian sector of the northern North Sea. BMT’s assessment also included the installation routes of associated subsea assets, a submarine power cable to Kollsnes (Norway) across the Norwegian Trench via the Troll field, a fiber-optic network to Huldra and a pipeline to the TP1 tie-in point.
