Canyon Charters Otto Candies Vessel

Subsea services company Canyon Offshore said it has entered into an agreement with vessel owner Otto Candies for the charter of the Jones Act-compliant inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) vessel Ross Candies.The charter will commence in July 2019 upon completion of a previously scheduled regulatory dry dock. DP-2 diving support vessel (DSV) Kelly Ann Candies.The high spec vessel has a built-in 14-man Draeger saturation diving system complete with three-man bell, moon-pool bell launch with cursor, self propelled hyperbaric lifeboat (SPHL), 60-ton crane and berthing for 76 persons. The vessel has a Canyon Offshore work class remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) with an in-built, integrated ROV control room and an ABS classed, IMCA complaint surface air diving system. In addition, Aqueos has secured a dedicated hyperbaric rescue facility (HRF) and a life support package (LSP) to accommodate the SPHL

'Smart Boulders' Measure Seafloor Avalanches

.Over the course of this multi-year project -- the most ambitious attempt yet to measure these avalanches -- a total of 15 events were successfully tracked, some of which traveled for over 50 kilometers into the deep sea.More than 50 instruments were installed on and above the seabed within Monterey Canyon offshore California, including the novel smart boulders designed to travel within the avalanches and measure their speed and movement. One of these smart boulders was also attached to a heavy 800 kilogram frame that was carried several kilometers down the canyon within a slurry of sand and rock fragments

North Sea Link Trenching Contract Awarded

Aberdeen based trenching solution provider Canyon Offshore Limited said it has been awarded a contract to provide offshore cable trenching services on the North Sea Link Interconnector linking the U.K. and Norway.   The project, which will establish a first direct connection between the two countries energy systems, is a joint venture between National Grid and Statnett SF, the Norwegian transmission system operator.
