Indonesian Government Buys UK-Built Submarine Rescue System

UK-based Submarine Manufacturing and Products (SMP) will provide its new submarine rescue system (SRS) to the Indonesian Navy.The SRS will be hosted on a mothership designed by independent design and engineering consultancy Houlder and delivered by its Indonesian strategic partner, BTI Defence.The three-year build contract will include the UK design and manufacture of the SRS, centered around SMP's new SRV-F Mk3 rescue submersible. The custom build of the mothership will take place in region, along with the associated expert training for the Indonesian Navy who will operate the system when it

Russia Offers Indonesia Type 636 Submarines

Russian government has approached the Indonesian government to offer Kilo Class Type 636 submarines to bolster the country’s maritime defense system, reports Jakarta Post.   Russian ambassador MY Galuzin had met with Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu to discuss military and defense partnerships between the two countries, said Defense Ministry spokesperson Col. US Navy Using Advanced Equipment in AirAsia Search

Harbor, is equipped to rapidly deploy specialized dive teams to conduct harbor clearance, underwater repairs and search and recovery operations in any environment.   USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) is forward deployed to 7th Fleet and arrived in the search for Air Asia Jan. 3 at the request of the Indonesian government. Fort Worth is operating alongside USS Sampson (DDG 102), which arrived on station Dec. 30, to support Indonesian-led search efforts to locate AirAsia Flight QZ8501. [Source: U.S. Navy]
