Mexico Eases Consortium Rules for Deep-water Trion JV with Pemex

Carlos Zepeda. "This possibility still exists, but it's no longer required," he said, emphasizing that the change should help boost competition among potential bidders. The CNH previously voted to lower Pemex's minimum stake in the project from 45 percent to 40 percent. The Trion light oil field is located in the Perdido Fold Belt just south of Mexico's maritime border with the United States. It is Pemex's most promising deep-water project, believed to hold some 480 million barrels of oil equivalent, and will require an investment of about $11 billion. The Trion joint venture

Mexico Announces Bid Terms for First Deep Water Oil Joint Venture

Mexico's oil regulator on Wednesday announced bid terms for a first-ever joint venture between state-owned oil company Pemex and would-be private partners to develop oil reserves in the Gulf of Mexico's deep waters.   The call for bids to partner with cash-strapped Pemex on the Trion light oil field follows the constitutional energy reform enacted in 2013 which promised to reverse a decade-long slump in crude production. Tullow Opdates on Norway Appraisal Well

. The well was drilled approximately 5 kilometres south-west of the Wisting discovery well in the Barents Sea. Results of drilling, wireline logs and samples of reservoir fluids show that the well has encountered an oil column of 22 metres in a 1,402 metres horizontal section with 1,250 metres of net light oil pay. The main reservoir encountered was thicker than expected pre-drill. A constrained production test was carried out in the Stø Formation with a flow rate of approximately 5,000 boepd which demonstrated excellent reservoir properties. The well results are expected to provide an increase

Large Oil Discovery Confirmed in Brazil

;ões SA and Barra Energia have confirmed that the giant Carcará offshore find extends far beyond the initial discovery, Barra said in a statement.   Drilling in the 3-SPS-105 well in the Carcará N evaluation well bout 250 km south of Rio de Janeiro has discovered light oil at 31 degrees on the American Petroleum Institute scale, Barra said. The oil is contained in a continuous column of oil bearing rock that is at least 358 meters (1,175 feet) tall.   The discovery shows the oil-bearing rock is connected to the previous Carcará find in the same BM-S-8

can use your existing vessel fleet and direct the investment funding to the OSR equipment itself.” Currently most of the OSR equipment operated by OSR preparedness organisations only can collect heavy oil qualities. The EU Sulfur Directive, implemented from January 1, 2015, increases the use of light oils as vessel fuel in Northern Europe significantly. This puts a high pressure on organizations to update OSR equipment. The new SeaHow products are among the first skimmer products that can truly collect both light and heavy oils efficiently. “The capacity tests carried out by Lloyd’s

gas accumulation in the Amazon Basin, Block AM-T-84.   The discovery was made while drilling well 1-BRSA-1293-AM (ANP nomenclature), informally known as Jusante do Anebá. Well drilling reached the total depth of 2,040 meters.   Preliminary well tests have confirmed the presence of light oil (API 47°) and gas in arenaceous reservoirs, extending from 1,350 meters to 1,900 meters deep.   Petrobras is the operator of the concession (60%), in partnership with Petrogal Brasil (40%).   The consortium will proceed with activities to evaluate the oil and gas bearing reservoirs

in the so called “pre-salt” layers that dominate the deep water off the coast of Brazil. The pre-salt is a layer of sedimentary rocks formed by the separation of the current American and African continents. It comprises large accumulations of excellent quality, high commercial value light oil. GE is working with Petrobras and BG Group on research projects to develop the technologies and equipment that will be required to move production from the platform to the seabed. , 50 mile (80 km) radius.  Another good example within this radius, is the third well (informally known as Carcará), drilled in the Bem-te-vi field’s Evaluation Plan (PAD). It is located in Block BM-S-8, and identified a significant pre-salt column of at least 471 meters of light oil of 31° API. Pressure data obtained indicate that the reservoirs under these three wells are interconnected. As yet, there has been only speculation on the recoverable volumes of this reservoir, with some saying it may be the biggest yet. All of these reservoirs were located, using CGG&rsquo
