Danelec Marine Upgrades Global Distributor Network

Denmark's Danelec Marine, suppliers of Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs) and Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), say it is creating up to 20 Certified Service Centers in key locations as part of a global strategy to upgrade its existing distributor network.

Augmenting the company’'s extensive service coverage in more than 50 countries, the Certified Service Centers will maintain a substantial inventory of replacement units and spares to ensure availability at short notice to ships anywhere in the world.

"This is a major element in our structured program of continuous improvement in our worldwide service support network,"” said Hans Ottosen, chief executive officer of Danelec Marine. "“We also are setting up new distribution partners in countries where we believe our service capability is not up to our standards.”

“"We understand the critical importance of fast, efficient and standardized service for our products, which are installed on ships sailing global routes,” said Ottosen. “In many cases, Port State Control authorities may not allow a ship to depart until the VDR or ECDIS is repaired and tested to be functioning properly. That’s why we ensure that qualified service technicians and spares are available worldwide and that our products are designed for fast and easy serviceability.”"

SRH Marine Electronics, based in Piraeus, is among the first Danelec Marine distributors to become a Certified Service Center.

“This is an important step for us at SRH,” said Kostas Seretis, general manager of the marine division at SRH Marine Electronics. “It will enable us to provide prompt service support to our many Greek customers who have Danelec VDRs on their ships, as well as future ECDIS installations.”
