Danos Wins Hess Stampede Platform Contract

Danos has secured a contract to perform mechanical hook-up and commissioning (HUC) support services for the Hess Stampede tension leg platform (TLP) in the Gulf of Mexico. The Stampede deepwater oil and gas field (located approximately 115 miles south of Fourchon, La.) is one of the largest undeveloped fields in the Gulf of Mexico, with estimated gross recoverable reserves in the range of 300-350 million barrels of oil equivalent.

As part of the contract, more than 100 Danos employees will be working on the project across multiple locations over the next 12 months. A small project management team is in Houston planning the offshore scope and execution. They are working closely with other delivery areas to ensure a safe and successful facility start-up. Currently, Stampede is in the integration and commissioning phase. Once complete, the platform will be towed to its final destination where Danos will be supporting the hook-up and commissioning phases of the project.

“We’re proud to be involved in a project of this scale and significance for our region and the oil and gas industry,” said Mark Danos, vice president of project services for Danos. “This project is an exciting opportunity for Danos and is a perfect complement to our current project offerings and portfolio.”
