Ocean Scientific International Ltd. (OSIL) said it has expanded its U.K.-based facilities to include an in-house engineering and CNC machining department.

“OSIL produce uniquely customized equipment, and having the provisioning to allow rapid prototyping, product development and precision manufacture to take place in-house enables us to deliver products to the market quicker, to maintain more effective controls over the equipment produced and gives us better administration of the supply chain.” said OSIL Managing Director, Dr. Richard Williams.

The equipment in the new department includes XYZ full cad cam lathes (with capacity up to 425 mm diameter x 200mm length) turning centers and vertical machining centers (up to 1,200mm X travel and 650mm Y travel), manual lathes and vertical mills. The division also uses full 2017 Solidworks and One CNCXR6 Cam Software.

The new engineering and CNC machining facility can produce a wide variety of items, from prototypes and small batches, to large runs of precision engineered equipment, with several finishing options available.

OSIL’s production department is equipped with full physical and environmental testing facilities, and full end to end programming and data test facilities including UHF/VHF, GSM/GPRS, 3G/4G and satellite communications.
