The PLOCAN Glider School is a yearly international initiative serving as a reference training and networking event for those interested in learning about underwater robotics, and more specifically the ocean gliders as autonomous and unmanned vehicles for ocean monitoring applications.
Held at the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) headquarters in Telde, Gran Canaria, the Glider School lasts for six training days, with theoretical and practical contents performed in both lab and open waters. According to its organizers, the main goal of the school is to provide the opportunity to a selected group of the attendees, to start in some cases and expand in others their knowledge related to ocean glider technology.
Companies from marine technology sector like ocean glider and related sensor payload manufacturers, as well as international institutions as reference end-users of such technology, are directly involved with the school, teaching some didactical contents and supporting sea operations.
PLOCAN opened a selection process for 15 attendees interested and able to participate in the Glider School 2015. The closing time will be June 19, 2015 at 4 p.m. (GMT). The list of selected candidates will be published July 3.
