Rockland Scientific Inc. (RSI) has issued a purchase order at Ocean Business 2015 for the second unit of a small instrumentation winch from the MacArtney Underwater Technology Group. The winch system is specifically designed and optimized for use with the RSI VMP-250 vertical turbulence profiler.

Customers using the RSI VMP-250, designed for coastal research applications, were requesting turnkey system packages that include VMP-250 profiler, deployment line and winch, which could be used together on any research vessel, anywhere in the world.  MacArtney and RSI delivered the first VMP-250 turnkey system, including winch in December 2014, commissioned by Dr. Daniele Iudicone from Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn in Naples, Italy.  The second winch system has now been ordered by RSI at MacArtney Exhibition Stand B1.

“MacArtney’s help in producing a winch system that is optimized for work with our VMP-250 is a benefit for our customers, because it reduces the operational uncertainty of the field work. It also simplifies the logistics of deliveries to our European customers, because the winches are produced in Denmark,” said Jeremy Hancyk, RSI’s Director of Business Development.

The MacArtney CORMAC B / RSI MA-250 winch, which features a .37kW DC motor and clutch, is estimated for delivery to RSI in May 2015.
