NOAA research biologist Eric Hoffmayer will share his insights on the habits and habitats of whale sharks in the northern Gulf of Mexico.

His presentation, titled Tracking Whale Sharks in the Gulf of Mexico, will be given at tomorrow’s NOAA Sanctuary Advisory Council Meeting in Galveston, Texas.

According to NOAA, what Hoffmayer is learning is leading to better understanding of whale shark activities in and around the sanctuary.

Other items on the meeting’s agenda include a sanctuary update, a report on the Gulf of Mexico Summit, a discussion of oil and gas regulations in relation to potential sanctuary expansion, and a public comment period (1 p.m.).
