Rapaport Returns to OceanWise

Independent U.K. marine data management company OceanWise has appointed James Rapaport as a Senior Information Systems Developer.

“It’s great to have James back in the team again after a five year break,” said Mike Osborne, OceanWise MD. “His skills and knowledge will ensure we continue to deliver a growing portfolio of quality products and services to our customers across the world in a timely manner.”

Rapaport rejoins OceanWise from Teledyne Caris, where he managed the development of Caris’ web server software, Spatial Fusion Enterprise. He previously worked with the OceanWise team, initially at SeaZone Solutions, then at HR Wallingford in the U.K. Rapaport assisted in drafting the ISO 19100 based discovery metadata standard for the U.K., and helped develop the metadata management tool, Metadata Maestro, for the U.K. Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN).

OceanWise said Rapaport’s appointment is significant as it grows its technical team working on development projects to meet the growing demand for our Port-Log Environmental Data Sharing and Publishing services and Enterprise GIS Productivity software tools.

OceanWise has also added Will Girard to its Customer Service Team as a Business Administration Apprentice, as well as its second GEBCO sponsored intern, Azmi Rosedee from the University of New Hampshire. Rosedee will help update the company’s digital bathymetric database before returning to Malaysia as the new Data Manager in the Hydrographic Office of the Malaysian Navy.

Furthermore, the company’s first apprentice, George Wright, has commenced his BSc degree course in Digital Technology Solutions at the University of Winchester, and will continue to work on technical projects at OceanWise while attending classes.
