Aberdeen based 3sun Group, a specialist provider of products and services to the global energy industry, has been awarded a marine operations and management contract by Statoil, worth £1 million.

The six month contract, which commenced in June, will be based within the Outer Harbor of East Port, Great Yarmouth, and marks the first time 3sun Group has worked with Statoil and supported on a major project for the marine sector.

3sun Group will take a lead role on the project, assembling anodes onto specialist frames designed to be used to transport assembles offshore for deployment to the seabed around each of the 88 wind turbine foundations on the Sheringham Shoal wind farm, located 21 kilometers off the North Norfolk coast, U.K .

The group will be working alongside oilfield support services company ASCO that will provide logistic support in the unloading of the supply vessels from Norway. ASCO will also support the subsequent load out to the installation vessels, with the job involving more than 6,000 lifting operations.

Graham Hacon, 3sun Group CEO, said, “The project marks the first milestone in what is planned to be a larger relationship between the two companies, with plans in place to develop a regional Operations and Maintenance hub from ASCO’s Gas House Quay facility.”
