Sonardyne to Hold PME Workshop

Sonardyne International Ltd., in conjunction with Guidance Marine and Veripos, is holding a free one-day user workshop focusing exclusively on the latest advances in DP reference sensor technologies. Aimed at Captains, owners, operators and DPOs, this inaugural event is being held on Thursday, May 22 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ålesand, Norway.

The workshop is split into two sessions where during the morning’s technical presentation, attendees will gain valuable insight into why Guidance Marine’s laser and radar sensors are the preferred choice of major DP manufacturers; how Sonardyne uses aided inertial techniques to extend the performance of USBL and LUSBL acoustics; and how Veripos constantly improves the accuracy and reliability of its GNSS satellite services. Company experts will present real world examples of these technologies reducing vessel downtime, lowering operational costs and minimising risk.

Parallel workshop streams will form the afternoon session. In the hands-on Usability stream, product engineers will answer questions about using current generation PME systems whilst the Future Capability stream will provide the opportunity to influence the position reference equipment of the future. What should tomorrow’s DP system do that today’s can’t? What technical capability would it have and how would the operator interact with it? The input provided will be fed directly back into each company's research and development teams, shaping the future of vessel dynamic positioning.
