Star-Oddi has launched a new robust logger in the Starmon data logger serie, the Starmon TD.

For 15 years Star-Oddi has been manufacturing the Starmon mini with a temperature sensor, but now having the option to measure depth additionally has been welcomed by marine and fisheries scientists, the manufacturer said.

Starmon TD is designed with a fast response temperature probe. The time constant is only two seconds which makes it suitable for profile measurements when going through different temperature layers down the water column. It also makes it suited for fishing gear studies. The durable logger has battery life is typically over a decade and battery is user replaceable.

Various depth ranges are available up to 2,000 meter. Depth accuracy is better than +/-0.3 percent of full range, for example +/-0.3 meters if using the 100 meter pressure sensor.  Temperature accuracy is +/-0.025°C. The large memory size can store 8.4 million temp-depth recordings. The sampling interval is user programmable in the application software. The robust housing is designed to make it easy to mount to gear or moorings.
