In March, VideoRay launched their newest Mission Specialist underwater robot, aptly named Ally.

VideoRay's new Mission Specialist Ally made its first official dive to support search and recovery operations after the Key Bridge collapse

This vehicle was met with great anticipation, as customers await production units to begin shipping in June.

However, when VideoRay stepped up to support the Baltimore Police Marine Unit and FBI in the wake of the tragic Key Bridge collapse, the team agreed that the Ally was the best tool for this incredibly challenging environment.

With its compact size, 4 knot power, and lateral thrust, Ally was quickly put the paces and lived up to its name, nimbly navigating the arduous debris field. VideoRay’s Tom Glebas, one of several seasoned operators on scene, reported “Ally flew extremely well, and most importantly, I didn’t get it hung up in what was probably the scariest place I’ve ever operated - as far as ROV traps go. With that level of performance, it should be easy for operators of all levels to successfully complete their missions.”

The new Ally shares common system components and modules with all other Mission Specialist vehicles for complete product line compatibility. Marcus Kolb, Chief Product and Innovation Officer at VideoRay explains “Ally delivers an inroad for customers to experience our leading-edge Mission Specialist technology at a price point that meets more stringent budgets – and allows for expansion as your budget and needs progress.”

Ally is also ideal for customers looking to expand their fleet. Customers currently operating VideoRay’s top-of-the-line Defenders can now supplement their fleet with a lower-cost, highly capable option. The new underwater robot can be used to perform mission specific tasks and can also serve as a source for readily available spares modules to help ensure uptime on larger projects.
