Mersey Maritime has announced that Bibby HydroMap are among the finalists for an Innovation Award at the 2016 MMIAs.

Bibby HydroMap's entry was centered on the launch of their survey ROV d'ROP in 2015, an innovative design that is set to alter the competitive landscape of shallow water remote survey and inspection. Short for 'dynamic remotely operated platform', the flexibility of the d'ROP allows it to effectively meet the needs of many industry sectors, including offshore renewables, oil and gas, subsea power and telecomms cables.

Based on the Wirral, UK, Bibby HydroMap works closely with many local offshore renewables and oil and gas operators, in addition to supporting projects throughout the rest of the U.K. and Northern Europe.

Organized by sector representative body Mersey Maritime, the MMIAs recognize the excellence and diversity that exists across all sectors of the maritime industry in the North West. The prestigious black tie event will bring together the best of the maritime industry right across the maritime, logistics and energy spectrum in the region.

Mersey Maritime communications manager Annette Parker said: “Entries for the MMIAs were up almost 60 percent on 2015, which meant that competition for a place in the final was fierce. Bibby HydroMap submitted a very strong entry in the Innovation category based on d’ROP and we wish them the best of luck for March 10th.”

Winners of the MMIAs will be announced at a prestigious black tie gala dinner to be held at Wallasey Town Hall, Birkenhead, U.K. on March 10.
