EdgeTech, a high resolution sonar imaging system and underwater technology developer, announced the release of new tri-frequency technology for its line of AUV-based side scan sonars. According the EdgeTech, the new technology is the first AUV-based side scan sonar line to offer triple frequencies.

The tri-frequency technology will be part of the EdgeTech 2205 AUV / ROV-based sonar system, which was introduced to the market last year as a continuation of the 2200 series product group. The 2205 system is also configured to support sub-bottom profiling at the frequency ranges of 2-16kHz, 1-8kHz or 4-24kHz, depending on the sub-bottom transducer selection by the operator.
