Ocean Infinity to Deploy AUVs for Scarborough Survey
Seabed exploration company Ocean Infinity said it has been awarded a contract to provide data in support of the development of the Scarborough field 375 kilometers west-north-west of the Burrup Peninsula in Western Australia.
The contract, awarded by Australian oil and gas company Woodside Energy, involves a deepwater geophysical pre-engineering route survey, extending approximately 300 kilometers from the Scarborough subsea field in 950- to 1,400-meter water depths up the scarp break toward existing onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing facilities on the Burrup Peninsula.
The deepwater geophysical survey project set to commence in mid-June 2018 will see Ocean Infinity deploy multiple autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) simultaneously from the 115-meter vessel Seabed Constructor to collect the data required for Woodside’s route engineering design.
