Subnero Will Be at OCEANS 2014

August 20, 2014

Singapore-headquartered underwater network and communications company Subnero announced it will be at OCEANS 2014 from September 14-19, 2014 in St John’s, NL, Canada.

Subnero focuses on enhancing underwater networks and communications. It offers high-performance underwater communications, navigation, monitoring and sensing solutions for researchers as well as commercial deployments. At the crux of these solutions is the flexible Subnero underwater modem. Many such modems can be rapidly deployed to self-organize into underwater networks via dynamic route discovery.

The Subnero software-defined modems run UnetStack, an agent based network stack designed to run highly optimized protocols for use in underwater communication networks. The stack allows customization and extension at many levels allowing network protocols as well as physical layer algorithms to be implemented and tested easily. The UnetStack also has a simulator (UnetSim) which uses the UnetStack implementation to simulate underwater networks on a computer. It allows agents and protocols to be simulated in realistic channel conditions, with minimal effort. This enables agent to be transferred between a simulation environment and an experimental deployment with modems without the need for porting.
