New Tool for Subsea Umbilical & Cable Recovery

with DNVGL, we’ve designed the CRT200 gripper to provide offshore contractors with a highly effective way of recovering umbilical and cable from any water depth. By gripping the end of the cable, it is easier to handle once on board the vessel,” said Keith Elliot, engineering director, Allspeeds Ltd.   Webtool said it offers the complete cable recovery package covering both cutting the cable and its recovery with the gripper. The ROV-operated Webtool cable cutting tools range from the light weight HCV100 for cables and umbilicals up to 4” (101mm) to the HCV270 for cutting up

10,000psi rated hydraulic jumpers and electrical lines in an emergency disconnect situation, at water depths up to 3,000m. Once activated the umbilical is cut in a single operation.    Webtool EDT, part of the Webtool range of cutting tools, designed and manufactured exclusively by Allspeeds Ltd., is designed for deployment for extended periods subsea and can be function tested in situ, ensuring the tool is ready for use in the event of an emergency

Allspeeds Looks Toward New Safety Standard

Allspeeds Ltd, designers and manufacturers of the Webtool range of products, have nominated the Webtool HP690 intensifier panel for the Subsea UK Innovation for Safety Award. Safety concerns were being expressed from those working offshore in deep water with regards to the use of high pressure hydraulics and traditional ROV hydraulic intensifier panels.   Allspeeds identified that the main safety issue was that standard pressure intensifiers contain a check valve.  This check valve requires a deliberate reversal of pressure in order to relieve the high pressure circuit after the
