Ocean Infinity Awards Software Contract to 4D Nav
Ocean Infinity said it has awarded a contract to 4D Nav for InfinityView, a mission planning and monitoring software for their multiple autonomous vehicle systems. The software will optimize the mission planning for all autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), unmanned surface vehicles (USV) and the host vessel by applying deep learning technology. As the planned missions are being executed all of the autonomous vehicles and the host vessel will be tracked against their planned missions. If any deviations occur InfinityView will dynamically update the mission plan to allow corrective decisions
ROVs Help Determine Iceberg Risks for Rigs
systems planned for use on the unmanned autonomous vehicles, AOSL is using a Saab Seaeye Falcon ROV as a development platform. Neil Riggs, senior project manager at AOSL, said the Falcon is a valuable development tool for helping understand how various payloads will behave when attached to autonomous vehicle systems: “It was recognized at an early stage that in order to be effective in performing R&D for autonomous systems we needed an ROV tool. The acquisition of the Falcon resulted from a careful examination of the available alternatives. It was judged the Falcon suited our needs extremely
OceanGate Developing Manned Submersible With University of Washington
, the university will supply a variety of forward-thinking design, engineering and prototyping services to OGI for the next two years. In addition to Project Cyclops, OGI’s existing manned submersibles are currently under contract by APL-UW for sonar technology testing of advanced autonomous vehicle systems. The manned submersible component will expedite operations by allowing realtime testing of hardware and software and modification of test profiles, helping APL-UW’s researchers reduce operational costs, increase research and development test capabilities, and response times.
