Mooreast to Anchor Floating Offshore Wind Farm in Southern France

for the Eolmed project located off the Port-La Nouvelle and Gruissan in Southern France.Bourbon will provide transport and installation services to the 30MW pre-commercial project, which is being developed by Qair, a European independent energy company, with TotalEnergies and floating technology supplier BW Ideol.Up to 35 tonnes each, the anchors command a holding power of up to 1,210 metric tonnes. The anchors, set to moor three floating wind turbines, are expected to be delivered by October 2024.The anchors will be manufactured at Mooreast’s yard at 51 Shipyard Road in Singapore.“The project

Floating Production – A Growing Segment in Transition

Korea and Europe. Finally, we are seeing a trend of certain key players in the floating production segment to leverage their expertise for executing challenging and large projects in deep water into the floating wind space, including Petrobras, Shell, TotalEnergies, Equinor, CNOOC, SBM Offshore, MODEC and BW Offshore.Competing for the Same Supply ChainsThe growth in activity in both the floating production and the floating wind segments will drive increased demand for engineering services, shipyard and port capacity, mooring system supply, dynamic subsea cables and specialist installation vessels. Bourbon to Install Eolmed Floating Wind Farm in Mediterranean Sea

French offshore vessel operator Bourbon has won a contract to support the construction of the Eolmed project, a recently sanctioned pilot floating wind farm in the Mediterranean Sea, offshore France. The wind farm, owned by Qair, TotalEnergies, and BW Ideol, will consist of three floaters, each fitted with 10 MW turbines. This 30 MW project is located more than 18 km off the coast of Gruissan and Port la Nouvelle (Occitan region). The start of production is expected by mid-2024.Bourbon will be responsible for the offshore installation works, and its scope includes the detailed design, procuremen

designer Ideol and STX Europe Offshore Energy to develop a floating substation design. The idea was being developed under a research and development project called Optiflot, which also involved French industrial process firm SNEF, and was based on Ideol’s damping pool concept. In June this year, BW Ideol (having had BW Offshore as a shareholder since February 2021) said it was working with Hitachi ABB Power Grids on “scalable floating substations”, using Ideol’s shallow-draft floating platforms. BW Ideol said this collaboration follows the Optiflot project, which had now completed
