band, with a minimum of loose debris, releasing the anchor or other object. Some bolts are designed specifically for marine critical applications where rapid structure separation is required.  In-line tensile strengths from 200-lbs to 1,000,000-lbs are available.Pyrotechnic cutters, courtesy PacSci EMC.A Pyrotechnic Cutter uses a gas generating charge and a cutting blade to sever objects. When initiated, the cutter will sever a multitude of materials and cross-sectional shapes including electrical or fiber optic cables, steel wire rope, bolts, tubes and woven or braided fiber cords, lines and straps

an instrument, it’s not an easy place to work especially while making sure the boat didn’t get chopped up. We also had some unexpected technical challenges that we had to overcome.”  Each turbine creates an electronic noise, otherwise known as an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) noise spectrum. This was picked up by the communication and power-line of the ADCP, distorting the instrument’s signal and decreasing the measurement range. Nortek analyzed the noise spectrum present at the site and was able to modify the internal filter of the power supply to reduce the EMC

we were delighted to win work on this massive project,” he said. “Our multi cable transit seals are being used in the platform accommodation module to protect assets from serious hazards such as fire, blast and water ingress. Specifically we supplied standard and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) stainless steel cable seals to protect the platform’s electrical systems from airborne interference.” O’Hare said for the accommodation module Roxtec was also required to supply a special sealing system for copper nickel pipes. “The copper nickel pipes are really important

AEUK Completes Sonar FAT for German Navy

Testing (FAT) at their premises in the U.K. against a particularly comprehensive and demanding set of requirements set by the German Government. Of particular significance was the accreditation of a completely new design and build of a bespoke Power Supply and Processing Unit (PSPU) to the Mil-Std EMC and Environmental qualification standards set by the customer as well as the stringent German Information Security (BSI) testing which further complements the integrity of the AEUK design. AEUK will now enter a period of formal training with the German Navy as the system heads towards its in-service
