CalWave to Provide Wave Energy Tech for British Columbia Project

CalWave, a California-based wave energy technology developer, has been selected as the technology provider for a wave energy project at Yuquot in British Columbia, with the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation (MMFN).As a ‘first-of-a-kind’ (FOAK) wave energy project for coastal community microgrids, the MMFN project may serve as a blueprint for coastal communities along the North American Pacific Coast and around the world.The project is currently in a feasibility and design phase to gather all the necessary information for the MMFN to make an informed decision on full project buildout.Located

CRP Subsea Put to Work at Brazilian Oil Field

CRP Subsea, an AIS company, has secured a ‘substantial contract’ for the supply of distributed buoyancy modules (DBMs) to a deepwater oil field project in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil.CRP Subsea secured was hired by a leading energy technology company, whose name was not disclosed.The company DBMs will be utilised on a flexible production riser transporting oil from the subsea facility to the floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel above.Specifically engineered, the DBMs will establish a dynamic subsea lazy-wave configuration to mitigate the top tension on the FPSO.

Mocean Energy Raises Funds for Blue Star Wave Energy Technology

Wave energy firm Mocean Energy has raised £2.2 million in new equity alongside a £500,000 grant to drive the commercialization of its wave energy technologies.The equity funds come from existing investors, including Equity Gap, Scottish Enterprise and Old College Capital, the University of Edinburgh’s venture investment fund, alongside new shareholders Norwegian impact investors Katapult Ocean and MOL PLUS, the corporate venture capital arm of listed Japanese shipping conglomerate MOL.In addition, Mocean has secured a £499,500 Low Carbon Manufacturing Challenge Fund grant

Mocean Energy to Develop 250kW Wave Machine in Orkney with EU Investment

Wave energy technology developer Mocean Energy has secured over £3 million EU funding to develop and deploy a 250kW wave machine in Orkney.The wave energy device – named Blue Horizon 250 – will be manufactured in Scotland and deployed in a grid-connected berth at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney as early as 2025.It’s hoped the project could then pave the way to a small wave farm delivering 1-2 MW of low-carbon electricity by 2030, Mocean Energy said.The Edinburgh firm has been awarded £3.2 million (€3,749,405) in Phase 3 of EuropeWave, a pre-commercia
