Fugro Gets Marine Survey Job at Indonesia’s LNG and CCS Scheme
INPEX Masela (INPEX), a subsidiary of INPEX Corporation, has awarded Fugro a significant marine survey contract for the Abadi liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Indonesia.Fugro will perform geophysical and geotechnical surveys needed to support front-end engineering design for offshore production facilities, the subsea pipeline to the onshore LNG terminal and CO2 injection infrastructure.Geo-data will be acquired using Fugro’s deepwater autonomous underwater vehicle Echo Surveyor 8 and a robotic seafloor drill, deployed from Indonesian support vessels.Fieldwork is expected to start in the
McDermott and Baker Hughes Install Subsea Infrastructure at Ichthys Field
Engineering company McDermott and Baker Hughes have completed the installation of subsea infrastructure at the Ichthys liquefied natural gas (LNG) field in northern Australia. The work was conducted for Inpex as part of the contract McDermott and Baker Hughes secured in 2019.The scope of the contract included engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of umbilicals, risers and flowlines (URF), a subsea production system comprised of a new 7-inch vertical Christmas tree (VXT) system, all forming a subsea well gathering system (GS4) tied back to the existing Ichthys Explorer central
Inpex, Woodside, TotalEnergies win Australian Offshore Acreage for Carbon Capture Studies
Australia has awarded Japan's Inpex Corp, France's TotalEnergies and Woodside Energy Group offshore acreage permits for assessing carbon emissions storage as the government pushes to speed up emissions reductions. While environmental groups say carbon capture and storage (CCS) has yet to work effectively and will prolong the use of fossil fuels, the Labor government sees it as essential to slashing emissions by 2050.At the same time as announcing the award of the CCS permits, the government also invited bids for new offshore oil and gas exploration acreage, which it said was important for
Fugro Hired for Abadi Field Survey
Dutch offshore survey firm Fugro has won what it says is "a large marine survey contract" with Inpex offshore Indonesia.Fugro has been contracted to carry out geophysical and geotechnical surveys and the associated studies needed to support front-end engineering design (FEED) for offshore production facilities and the submarine pipeline to the onshore LNG terminal. This is in support of the Abadi gas field development in the Masela Block, in the Arafura Sea.Geo-data will be acquired using Fugro’s deepwater autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) Echo Surveyor and the company's robotic
McDermott, BHGE Score Ichthys Contracts
McDermott International and Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), announced on Tuesday that the companies have been awarded contracts to provide a joint subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) and subsea production systems (SPS) solution for the INPEX-operated Ichthys liquefied natural gas (LNG) field development, located off the northwest coast of Western Australia. The award, which follows the completion of a front-end engineering and design (FEED) competition and tender for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation (EPCI) scope, includes a joint SURF and SPS EPCI solution, comprisin
McDermott Wraps Up Ichthys LNG Campaign
McDermott International announced Monday it has completed the final offshore campaign for the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project, located offshore Western Australia. This was the second of two remaining work packages left under McDermott's contract, which was the largest subsea contract ever awarded at the time, the company said. Most of the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) for the subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) contract awarded in January 2012 was completed by the end of 2017.The final offshore campaign involved subsea tiebacks to new drill centers and
Inpex Wins Exploration Acreage Offshore Norway
Japan’s Inpex Corporation, through its unit Inpex Norge bagged two exploration licenses offshore Norway in Norway’s Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) 2018 licensing round. The PL1027is located in the western Barents Sea offshore and PL1016 is located in the northern Norwegian Sea offshore the Kingdom of Norway, it said in a statement. The annual APA licensing rounds aim to promote the further exploration of blocks in previously explored, mature areas by allowing tenders to be submitted for any acreage within predefined areas where licenses have not been awarded. The licenses provide the
Shell Feeds Gas to Australia's New Prelude FLNG
. Thomson Reuters Eikon ship tracking data shows that the vessel left Prelude FLNG port on June 7."This will cool down the tanks and process equipment and pipework with gas and is an opportunity to test processes and systems before the subsea wells are opened at start-up," she said.Shell and Inpex Corp, Japan's biggest oil and gas producer, are vying for first gas from two overlapping fields from offshore northern Australia, where both have spent billions of dollars building the world's biggest maritime vessels to grab a slice of Asia's booming LNG market. The Shell spokeswoman
Ichthys Explorer Moored off Western Australia
The world’s largest semi-submersible platform, the Ichthys Explorer, has been safely moored in the Ichthys Field, 220 kilometers off the north coast of Western Australia, where it will be located for 40 years, as part of the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project. Bardex Corporation supplied four moveable Chain Jacks and 28 underwater Barlatches to support the handling of 28 mooring lines. The mooring operation was completed ahead of schedule with the assistance of Bardex lifecycle services. Bardex said the use of its Clump Weight contributed to the efficient mooring up operation.
