Cellula Robotics Starts Trials for Its XLUUV

Robotics announced it has commenced sea trials of its Solus-XR extra large unmanned underwater vehicles (XLUUV), signifying a key step in the company's development of its long range hydrogen fuel cell powered autonomous underwater systems.Building upon the foundation of Cellula's preceding Solus-LR, the Solus-XR XLUUV is the largest UUV ever developed in Canada. Featuring environmental friendly hydrogen fuel cell technology, the vehicle is crafted to attain unparalleled operational ranges, reaching 5,000 kilometers.Through its port-to-port mission capability, Solus-XR removes the necessity for

Viewport3 Gets UK Nod for Remote Inspection

Aberdeen-based 3D scanning specialists, Viewport3, have become the first business in the UK to be approved for Remote Inspection Techniques (RIT) using underwater photogrammetry by Lloyd’s Register (LR).The certification was granted to Viewport3 following a successful offshore project along with an onshore validation trial, which involved using photogrammetry to verify mooring chain link critical dimensions to a sub-millimetric level – a level of accuracy and data density that far exceeds those attained by traditional approaches. As a result, the Viewport3 team have developed new reporting

MTR100: For USVs and AUVs, is it a Hydrogen Future?

USV left the shipyard of Tuco Marine - ProZero Workboats in Denmark and arrived in Chania, Crete. There, it will have its systems, including instrumentation and the hydrogen PEM fuel cell, integrated, followed by testing over winter.Cellula RoboticsThe mini AUV shown as it would be launched from the Solus LR underwater.Developing a hydrogen powered AUV has also been a goal for Canada’s Cellula Robotics – and this summer it got its system into the water. Its goal is to get to 2,000 km endurance with its hydrogen fuel cell powered Solus-LR vehicle. Cellula’s SeaWolf project, with the Australian

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered AUV Demonstrated

Canadian marine technology company Cellula Robotics Ltd. announced the successful completion of various demonstration missions using the hydrogen fuel cell powered autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), Solus-LR.The missions, executed in Vancouver's Indian Arm inlet on July 15, demonstrated the remarkable autonomous launch of a micro-AUV from Solus-LR while submerged and underway. Following the launch, the micro-AUV surfaced and transmitted a status message to Solus-LR's command and control center via Iridium satellite. The operation was the first of its kind and demonstrated near real-time

large UUVs. In addition to the Anduril partnership, the RAN, through Australian defense cooperative research center Trusted Autonomous Systems, is tapping British Columbia-based Cellula Robotics to develop the SeaWolf XLUUV. Cellula is the developer of the Solus family of AUVs, which includes the Solus-LR, a hydrogen fuel-cell powered XLUUV with a range in excess of 2000km. The 12 meter technology demonstrator, to be rolled out in late 2022, or early 2023, will have a range of over 5000 km, and will include contributions from Australian sub-contractors Mission Systems, Ocean Wave Consulting, East Consulting
