MIND Technology books $7.3M in Orders

interest in multi-beam sonar systems, specifically the Klein 5000 and Klein 5900 systems, which has resulted in orders totaling approximately $2.5 million. These systems provide high-resolution images and allow for acquisition of data at high survey speeds. Thus, these are well suited for mine counter measure missions and fill critical needs for the United States and its allies. Furthermore, the company has responded to requests for quotes for additional systems, totaling approximately $3.5 million. In some cases, the orders include integrated launch and recovery systems

Expendable Unmanned Vehicle for Mine Countermeasures

ECA Group said it has delivered a full scale development of an integrated solution for mine counter measure as part of a project completed in collaboration with an undisclosed Asian naval partner.   This Southeast Asian navy is changing how it performs mine hunting operations, opting for new unmanned systems instead of 50-meter boats managed by a crew of 40 people. The new unmanned systems not only significantly reduce the human risks involved with these operations, but are also controlled by three people, further slashing operational costs.   According to ECA Group , this unmanned

US Navy Orders Unmanned Mine-hunting Vessels

The U.S. Navy’s Unmanned Influence Sweep System (UISS) program has placed an order for two additional on-water unmanned vehicles for use as part of its Mine Counter Measure Unmanned Surface Vehicle (MCM USV) mission, which includes mine-hunting and potentially mine-neutralization, as well as mine-sweeping.   The fourth-generation Common Unmanned Surface Vehicles (CUSV) will be supplied by Textron Inc. business unit Textron Systems Unmanned Systems, who received the $14.8 million contract to delivery of the two CUSV in 2018.   The CUSV is a multi-mission unmanned surface

Tech Upgrade for German Minehunting Vessels

Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) for the modernization of three minehunting vessels of the Frankenthal class (Type 332) in service with the German Navy.   The objective of this project, which bears the designation MJ 332 CL, is to equip the three boats with the Integrated Mine Counter Measure System (IMCMS) and the mine disposal vehicle SeaFox of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK. On top of that, the vessels will be given the capability for controlling the “Seehund” ROV, which until now has only been integrated on the minesweepers of the Ensdorf class (Type 352). In addition to the

Saab Seaeye has long experience in providing underwater vehicles using advanced technology for defense forces around the world. Recently, the company hosted an international group of maritime mine threat experts that included the Deputy Director of the NATO Underwater Research Centre, who examined a wide range of mine counter-measure underwater vehicles, including one for the disposal of underwater IEDs

A Pivotal Year for AUVs in the Oil & Gas Sector

AUVs are on their way. With vast scope for their application, autonomous underwater vehicles are finally gaining pace in the commercial sector. The technology, which has its origins in military activities such as mine counter-measure and rapid environmental assessment (MC & REA), also has a strong presence in research activities, from research mapping to environmental sensing. In fact, the military and research sectors have strong links which enable collaboration and, therefore, some units can be used across the sectors. The two sectors currently form 97% of AUV demand. However, Douglas-Westwood&rsq
