Sabah Basin Multi-Client Seismic Project Secures Prefunding
Marine seismic company TGS, in cooperation with JV consortium partners PGS and SLB, has announced that prefunding has been secured to expand multi-client seismic data coverage in the Sabah Basin offshore Malaysia. The seventh phase of this multi-year project off the coast of Sabah encompasses over 5,000 kilometers of new 2D seismic data acquisition, over 2,600 kilometers of legacy seismic data processing, and 2,800 square kilometers of 2D-cubed processing as part of a multi-year contract originally awarded by PETRONAS in 2016.“High-quality 2D seismic data across Sabah will be instrumental in
TGS Wraps Up 410-Day OBN Survey Campaign Offshore Guyana
Marine seismic data company TGS has completed a series of Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) surveys offshore Guyana, setting a record for the longest deepwater node survey campaign. On December 1, 2023, the final node recovery marked the culmination of three exclusive OBN surveys commissioned by ExxonMobil Guyana.TGS used its ZXPLR node technology throughout the surveys. It acquired 2,400 square kilometers of OBN data within a span of 410 days, concluding the data acquisition process 20 days ahead of the projected schedule.According to the company, the achievement marks a record for the longest deepwater node
TGS Grabs OBN Data Acquisition Deal in North Sea
Offshore seismic data firm TGS has secured an Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) data acquisition contract in the North Sea.The three-month OBN data acquisition contract is for a repeat customer, according to TGS.The project's acquisition is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2024.Kristian Johansen, CEO at TGS, said: “This project, for a major energy customer, further highlights the integral role OBN acquisition has in providing our clients improved seismic data quality and help them make better reservoir development decisions.”
TGS Secures OBN Data Acquisition Job in the Gulf of Mexico
Offshore seismic data firm TGS has been awarded an Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) data acquisition contract in the Gulf of Mexico. The project's acquisition will start in the first quarter of 2024.The contract will cover two-month proprietary OBN data acquisition work, TGS informed.Kristian Johansen, CEO at TGS, said: "This project highlights the key role OBN data plays in this vital basin. OBN technology provides the essential data needed to visualize and understand the intricate structures within the Gulf of Mexico, enabling our clients to make well-informed, data-driven decisions in their field
Norwegian Seismic Specialists TGS and PGS Set to Merge
Seismic group TGS, a supplier of key data to the oil industry, has agreed to buy loss-making rival PGS in an all-share deal valued at 9.3 billion Norwegian crowns ($864 million), the two Oslo-listed companies said on Monday. The groups expect "significant economies of scale" from the combination, with a preliminary estimate of cost cuts amounting to $50 million, they said in a joint statement. The deal, if approved by regulators, will give TGS ownership of seven modern seismic ships, a significant shift in strategy for the company that has so far relied on chartering vessels from ship owners
TGS Partners with Apparition Geoservices
TGS announced a collaboration agreement with Apparition Geoservices to jointly provide integrated, encoded simultaneous source acquisition solutions to drive the next level of efficiency in seismic surveys.During the agreement term of four years, TGS and Apparition will collaborate through joint research, development and testing to fully commercialize Apparition technology in ocean bottom node, towed streamer and XHR data acquisition programs.Apparition has developed and offers, through its Seismic Apparition methodology, advanced seismic data acquisition techniques using multiple sources for seismic
In a First for Norway, TGS Deploys LiDAR Buoy for Offshore Wind Development
Offshore energy industry data services provider TGS has recently deployed the first-ever LiDAR buoy measurement campaign to support Norwegian offshore wind development. "This event represents the first industry-led investment and installation toward making large-scale Norwegian offshore wind a reality," TGS said."The buoy, which is part of a global campaign by TGS to deliver high-quality wind measurements to wind developers, has been deployed in the Utsira Nord zone. It uses state-of-the-art sensors to conduct wind, metocean, and environmental measurements to enhance decision-making
Innovative Seismic Monitoring Tech Developed for Danish North Sea CO2 Storage Project
on the seabed above the reservoir. By comparing data from the selected points with previous calculations of the design of the reservoir, it becomes possible to determine exactly where the CO2 is located in the reservoir and how it moves."Safety, flexibility and innovation are part of our DNA at TGS. We demonstrate this once again in Project Greensand. Together with our partners, we have shown that three seismic surveys can be carried out every few weeks during the winter season in the North Sea. "The operations were extremely efficient and were completed in a few hours," says
TGS and SLB Collaborate on Ultra-Long Offset OBN Survey in U.S. Gulf of Mexico
Offshore seismic data firm TGS, in collaboration with oilfield services giant SLB, this week announced the Engagement III ultra-long offset ocean-bottom node (OBN) acquisition in Green Canyon, U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The 111 OCS block survey is underway, and acquisition is expected to be complete in April 2023. "Following the success of previous projects, imaging uplifts will be delivered through the application of full-waveform inversion (FWI) velocity model building utilizing the ultra-long offsets—imaging to be carried out by SLB with final results expected in mid-2024," TGS said.
