Fugro Expands Geotechnical Vessel Fleet

Dutch offshore survey company Fugro has expanded its geotechnical vessel fleet with the Fugro Quest vessel. According to Fugro, the vessel is equipped with advanced deep-water technology."Fugro uses this type of vessel to determine the exact composition of the soil; the resulting data are essential to establish the optimal location and design of offshore developments, such as wind farms," Fugro explained. The Dutch company also says that the vessel provides increased personnel and operational safety, while its energy-efficient design results, on average, in significantly lower fuel consumption

“Oi will be our first chance for a long time for a proper get-together with the industry. As we’re now also in our 50th year in business, we’re especially looking forward to welcoming clients and industry contacts, past and present, on to our stand (F300) to help celebrate this incredible milestone,” said Aidan Thorn, Sonardyne Business Development Manager for Marine Robotics. event, with more than 400 exhibitors showing off their innovation and know-how in a physical environment to a global audience of industry stakeholders all under one roof. And we are lucky to be located alongside the Royal Victoria Dock, allowing us to curate the largest programme of live on-water technology demonstrations that Oi has seen; certainly not something you can experience in full on a Zoom call!”A ‘first’ for Oi this year, and near the top of the ‘must-see’ list for many visitors at Oi 2022, is Blue Essence, an offshore-certified USV (uncrewed surface vessel)

SMD Unveils Deep Water Nodule Collector

Underwater technology developer SMD said it has developed a new nodule collection solution engineered to maximize productivity and minimize impact to the seabed and the surrounding environment. The QC2000 Nodule Collector concept is based on SMD’s 50 years of experience in how to cut, move and collect soils, combined with deep water systems expertise, the company said. With a least impact philosophy, vessel productivity up to 1000Te per hour is achievable. The patent pending collection technique and process form a unique, energy efficient solution which has minimal impact on the seabed and surroundi

exclusion areas without sacrificing data quality is a differentiator. "When we looked at the problem, we found a gap in the Geophysical market for this type of implementation that delivers cost-efficient surveys that still provide maximum data quality. Specifically, we pulled from our deep-water technology portfolio to fast-track a solution that meets the current requirements of the shallow water survey market. With over 600 offshore projects behind us and an increasing backlog, I am excited to push the flexible vehicle systems and in-house patented technology into the geophysical market. By moving

Seiche Unveils Acoustic Monitoring Technology

for hydrostatic pressure variation in proximity to underway ships. In many cases, a direct measurement of hydrophone depth enhances 3D position fixing, as acoustic determination of depth depends on reflections from a variable or ‘unreliable’ surface.  Mark Burnett, CEO at Seiche Water Technology Group, commented: “With ports such as the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority leading the way in underwater noise mitigation management plans, we see an increasing appetite for technology that can monitor multiple aspects of underwater noise enabling mitigation measures to be put in to place

A BlueTech Future

for BlueTech jobs, which is also something the San Diego Unified School District is focusing on through a new BlueSTEM Career Pathway developed in partnership with TMA.San Diego’s BlueTech cluster is organized by TMA and includes highly innovative startups and industry leading ocean and water technology companies. The region is full of people who, as Greg Murphy put it, “see the ocean as an opportunity”, and the BlueTech sector seems poised to continue to grow and thrive. From November 5-9, TMA is hosting its 10th annual BlueTech Week, a conference that aims to connect people from
