ENVIRON in Port Gamble Strategic Alliance

International environmental, health, safety and sustainability consultancy, ENVIRON, says it has entered into a strategic alliance with Port Gamble Environmental Sciences (PGES) in Port Gamble, Washington.

Originally founded in 2005 by Dr. Jack Word and senior staff from Battelle’s Marine Sciences Laboratory, PGES operates throughout the world from the Arctic to tropical environments, helping businesses and governments solve aquatic and contaminated land environmental problems.

Dr. Word and his team of ecotoxicologists, who are internationally recognized for applying an inter-disciplinary approach to the forensic evaluation of biological effects within aquatic environments and adjacent contaminated lands, have joined ENVIRON as full-time employees.

ENVIRON explains that this partnership augments its capabilities and offers clients a unique combination of marine, estuarine and freshwater aquatic testing laboratory services, field investigation services, ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment consulting services. The Port Gamble laboratory and ecotoxicology experts have a successful history of addressing technical, regulatory and legal challenges facing clients in the port and commercial maritime, oil and gas, fisheries, mining and legal sectors.

Stephen Washburn, ENVIRON Chief Executive Officer, said, “We have developed tremendous respect for Port Gamble Environmental Sciences through our direct experience in working together on several large client projects over the past decade. This strategic partnership will allow us to provide even higher levels of technical and strategic assistance to clients going forward.”

ENVIRON says it has also entered into an exclusive lease arrangement for the Port Gamble laboratory, the only nationally accredited aquatic and sediment environmental laboratory in the Pacific Northwest, significantly enhancing the firm’s ability to respond to clients’ environmental issues. The facility focuses on technology-based solutions and bench-scale environmental effects testing to complement classical field sampling and environmental data analysis. The laboratory also complements ENVIRON’s freshwater aquatic testing services available from Nashville, Tennessee.

“As a result of this agreement, ENVIRON clients now have access to a unique combination of marine aquatic testing laboratory services, field investigation services, ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment services,” said Mr. Washburn.
