One of North East’s independent engineering companies is set to expand its capabilities with the launch of a new test facility that will support its clients across the global energy industry.

Red Marine will open its new testing facility located in Hexham and within walking distance of its head office, Tynedale House. The new premises will be four times the size of the company’s existing workshop.

Commenting on the expansion, Joe Orrell, Managing Director at Red Marine said the new facility will enhance the company’s service offering and allow for the provision of a wider range of testing services on a national and global basis.

“Our expanded testing services mirror Red Marine’s other core service - the fast track delivery of intelligent engineering solutions to the offshore sector - with the provision of turnkey testing services,” Orrell said. “From the development of tailored test programs, to the rapid design and build of bespoke test equipment, right through to completion of testing and analysis of results, we have the capabilities and experience to do it all under one roof.”

The company is set to expand its range of testing services encompassing tensioner pad testing, product qualification testing and procedure qualification testing.

Red Marine has further invested in new test equipment to allow testing at extremes of load, temperature and pressure including an environmental chamber which will allow products to be tested in temperatures ranging from -70°c to +180°c.

The facility will also be utilized to support Red Marine’s other business streams further enhancing the rapid delivery of installation equipment and subsea solutions by allowing fast track prototype testing.

Orrell added, “Red Marine prides itself on delivering a first class service to all our clients offering a reactive and dedicated skill set that allows the rapid delivery of intelligent engineering solutions. Our new testing facilities will further strengthen the value we can add for clients.”

“As our clients move into deeper water and harsher environmental conditions, our enhanced testing capabilities will ensure our innovative and intelligent solutions is fully tested and certified to the highest industry standards. The industry is well aware that realistic testing significantly reduces project risk and can save considerable time and money offshore. By opening this new facility we are supporting one of the core objectives of all our customers, to reduce costs, whilst continuing to deliver products and services to the highest standard of safety and compliance.”

Red Marine will open the doors of its new testing facility later this month and interested parties are welcome to visit for a guided tour.
