Founded in 1989, Falmouth Scientific, Inc. (FSI) has more than three decades of experience in the design, manufacture, and integration of stand-alone and turnkey systems for the real-time collection and transmission of oceanographic data. The company’s staff includes highly experienced engineering, technical, production, and quality assurance professionals skilled in the manufacturing and testing of precision sensors and systems.
FSI is a proven leader in the development of specialized precision marine sensors, acoustic systems, and transducers that support a broad range of oceanographic and geophysical applications. Its products are designed to operate reliably in environments ranging from estuarine waters to full ocean depths, and in applications spanning shallow gas hazard detection to offshore wind turbine construction.
The company’s product portfolio includes seismic and sub-bottom imaging systems, integrated sub-bottom and side-scan sonar systems, current, wave, and tide meters, electro-acoustic transducers, and acoustic relocation systems.
FSI operates from a purpose-built manufacturing facility in Pocasset, Massachusetts, located within the New England marine technology cluster on Cape Cod. A global customer base is supported by 18 representatives worldwide, a dedicated service center in Brazil, and leasing agents in the United States, Europe, and India—ensuring responsive local support wherever customers operate.
By combining more than 35 years of innovation with an ISO 9001:2015–certified quality management system, FSI delivers precision, reliability, and performance across all its products and services.

Products
Sensors:
ACM-PLUS (Acoustic Current Meter) series for precision current, wave and tide measurements. Key advantages are the ability to make accurate measurements in very clear and/or very shallow water, as well as at the surface and sea-floor boundary areas. Data can be acquired in real-time or captured and logged in internal memory. FSI offers shallow (300m) and deep (7,000m) versions as well as options to add an integrated CTD and one or two external sensors.
FSI also offers instruments to measure waves, tides, and other environmental parameters such as structural vibration and stress.
Systems:
The HMS-620 AQUAPULSETM Series is a versatile sediment profiling tool generating acoustic pulses for sediment profiling and seismic surveys, delivering high-resolution data for 2D and 3D UHR surveys.
Transducers:
Offerings include a broad range of piezoelectric and electromechanical designs spanning <100Hz to >500kHz, catering to a variety of underwater acoustic applications from sonar and communications systems to sub-bottom profiling and full ocean depth sources.
Service:
FSI’s service areas include custom design, development, integration, and production of marine systems and acoustic transducers; and manufacturing services such as prototyping, product assembly, encapsulation (potting), calibration, and pressure testing.
