Nortek is a company that develops and manufacturers Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) and current meters for use in the ocean, rivers, lakes and laboratories. We provide product sales and technical support all over the world with many local offices around the world. Our products span from single point turbulence sensors, wave measurement systems to long range current profilers. Our customers are scientists, research institutions, and consulting engineers, all with demanding applications requiring state-of-the-art instrumentation that is reliable and easy to use.

Products

We pride ourselves on being innovative, both in product development and production processes. We have a number of technological 'firsts' and several of our products are protected by US patents. Every Nortek product, manufactured to order based on your specifications, must pass a strict quality control process before it leaves Nortek. This includes burn-in test of all electronics, tank tests to verify the performance of our acoustics elements, and calibration of sensors for pressure, temperature, tilt and compass. In addition, we test each underwater instrument in the ocean before we ship it to you.

Nortek makes several different model series of acoustic doppler current profilers (ADCP). Each model series is targeted for specific applications, ranging from very shallow estuaries to long-range current profiling in the open ocean. We currently produce The Aquadopp Prrofiler and The Signature55. The Aquadopp Profiler is a small and lightweight profiler for use in the coastal ocean to profile ranges from 1 to 100 m. This profiler can optionally be delivered with special, "HR" firmware. In HR mode, the instrument is capable of measuring at high frequency (>1 Hz) and with high spatial resolution over short profiling ranges. The Aquadopp Profiler comes in a variety of mechanical configurations.The Signature55 is Nortek's latest generation, long-range current profiler, featuring a specified range of 1000m.
