CRP Subsea to Supply Well Equipment for Shell’s Whale Development

Shell Whale development, located about 200 miles southwest of Houston, features a semi-submersible production platform, with capability for remote operations and monitoring of almost every aspect of the facility.The Whale production facility, which was brought on stream in January 2025, is in the Alaminos Canyon Block 773, adjacent to the Shell-operated Silvertip field, around 10 miles (16 kilometres) from the Shell-operated Perdido platform.With an estimated peak production of 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), Whale currently has an estimated recoverable resource volume of 480 million boe

McDermott Wins Subsea Work from Shell

McDermott International, Inc. announced Tuesday it has been awarded a contract from Shell Exploration and Production Company, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc, for new subsea umbilical and flowline installation at the Great White Frio development in Alaminos Canyon Block 857 in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The contract award will be reflected in McDermott's fourth quarter 2018 backlog.McDermott said its scope of work includes project management and engineering; installation of a flexible flowline from the well to a pipeline end termination; installation of one 2,000-foot-long steel flying lead;

Fairfield Geotechnologies Wins GoM Survey Contract

Fairfield Geotechnologies said it has been awarded a contract by BHP to acquire up to 1,004 sq. miles of ocean bottom node seismic data in the Alaminos Canyon and East Breaks areas of the Western Gulf of Mexico. The survey, located in water depths ranging from 2,500 to 7,250 ft., will employ two seismic source vessels and Fairfield Geotechnologies’ newest ocean bottom node technology, ZXPLR.The survey design will deliver high quality seismic data for imaging, as well as provide the long offset, full azimuth data necessary for high-resolution velocity model building to enhance existing reflection
