World’s First Floating Microwave Radiometer

World’s first floating microwave radiometer complements measurements of the first floating LiDAR   AXYS Technologies Inc. said it is conducting design work with Boulder Environmental Sciences & Technology (BEST) is to deploy the world’s first buoy based microwave profiling radiometer on a floating platform, the FLiDAR WindSentinel.    Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the BEST Marine Profiling Radiometer (MPR) is the world's first microwave profiling radiometer specifically designed for deployment on a buoy. Once completed, the system will enable users to

AXYS Metocean Buoy Supports Offshore Wind

AXYS Technologies Inc (AXYS) has announced that a WatchKeeper meteorological and oceanographic data buoy has been recently deployed approximately 60km offshore along the Northern coast of Poland in the Baltic Sea. This buoy, procured by polish developer Baltic Trade and Invest (BTI), will be used as part of their upcoming Environmental Impact and Assessment campaign in the Baltic Sea. This campaign will form part of the Environmental application for the offshore wind farm development “FEW Baltic II”. The WatchKeeper buoy is equipped to provide wind speed and direction, air temperature

TRIAXYS g3 Wave Sensor Completes Sea Trials

AXYS Technologies announced that its next generation TRIAXYS g3 wave sensor has successfully completed a series of rigorous sea trials. The TRIAXYS g3 is a solid state wave sensor which offers, among other new features, frequency partitioning, continuous wave analysis and processing output and refactored messages.  The trials were conducted both in the German Bight and off the West Coast of Canada and used both AXYS' own TRIAXYS wave buoy and other industry standard buoys as references. The TRIAXYS g3 demonstrated extremely high levels of correlation against all reference buoys, confirming

TRIAXYS Wave Buoy Features AIS Aid to Navigation

AXYS Technologies announced the addition of AIS vessel tracking to its signature wave buoy series, TRIAXYS. The SRT Chronos Aid to Navigation (AtoN) AIS is an IALA and IEC compliant device that broadcasts buoy position and weather information to local vessel traffic.    This new feature both protects the buoy from collision by notifying vessels of its whereabouts and can also act as an additional telemetry method, providing data within radio range.   “This is the first time that a wave buoy has been equipped with AIS and confirms our strategy of continuous improvement for the

AXYS Leads the Way for Floating LiDAR

AXYS Technologies Inc. announced it has completed another two validation campaigns for its FLiDAR 6M wind assessment platform, marking the ninth and 10th independently reviewed offshore validations undertaken by AXYS to advance the commercial acceptance of its FLiDAR technology for offshore wind resource assessment in support of project financing. The latest validation campaigns took place at FINO 1 in the North Sea and at West of Duddon Sands in the Irish Sea, adding 11 more months of validation data to AXYS’ already impressive body of evidence for commercial acceptance. Both validation

AXYS and 3E Sign Cooperation Deal

Canadian based AXYS Technologies Inc and Belgium based 3E NV have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) regarding future collaborations and cooperation activities, the companies announced.   AXYS and 3E were first formally introduced in August 2015 when AXYS purchased FLiDAR NV, previously owned by 3E and OWA. Although AXYS and 3E have traditionally different geographical markets and commercial offerings, both companies work in offshore marine industries and believe that together they can offer more complete solutions to common clients.   Collaboration activities planned under the

AXYS Technologies Acquires FLiDAR NV

AXYS Technologies announced today it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100 percent of the FLiDAR NV shares.     Canadian-based and privately-held, AXYS has developed environmental monitoring technologies for the last 40 years. In 2009, AXYS developed the WindSentinel floating LiDAR, which has since evolved into a dual-LiDAR platform.   Belgium-based FLiDAR was formed in 2011 as a joint venture between 3E and Offshore Wind Assistance (part of the DEME group) to provide floating LiDAR offshore wind measurement technology.   Terry Tarle, AXYS President & CEO said

WindSentinel Floating LiDAR Helps Cut Costs

The WindSentinel Floating LiDAR solution developed by AXYS Technologies is a wind resource assessment buoy capable of accurately gathering data on wind speed and wind direction offshore at turbine hub-height and across the blade span. The data enables developers to understand how strong the winds are at the heights of wind turbines, provides a clear picture of how much power can be generated at specific sites, and helps to validate wind predictions from computer models. Data Buoys to Support Rio de Janeiro Olympics

AXYS Technologies Inc (AXYS) announced that four WatchKeeper metocean buoys were selected by the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) to be used by the Autoridade Publica Olimpica (APO) in support of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The WatchKeeper buoys will be deployed in July of 2015 to provide real-time metocean data for some regional games as a trial before the Olympic Games in 2016.   The buoys will be deployed at Copacabana beach and Guanabara Bay to provide wind speed and direction, air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, solar radiation, directional waves, current
