UTEC Nets Coral Sul Survey Work Offshore Mozambique

Damen CSD350 dredger for 200 km Internal Waterway

to create and maintain a 200 km inland channel running along a section of Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast. This is the first Damen CSD to be purchased by INTUR, and is designed for heavy-duty operations with a production capacity of 2000 mᶟ/h to a depth of nine metres. It will be operated by Empresa Portuaria Nacional (EPN), the national port authority, which already manages a number of Damen vessels and has a close relationship with INTUR. The CSD350 will be the fourth vessel delivered to EPN over the past year; with a Stan Tug 2608, another CSD350 and a CSD250 all recently beginning operations

ASI Marine & its Mohican ROV perform Deepest Tunnel Inspection

, ASI Marine (ASI) personnel conducted a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) underwater inspection of the Cheves Hydropower Tunnel in Peru and ended up breaking the ASI company record for the deepest flooded tunnel inspection at 570 m water depth.  The Cheves Hydropower Project is being developed by EMPRESA DE GENERACIÓN ELÉCTRICA CHEVES S.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of Statkraft. The tunnel inspected is approximately 9.8 km in length, with a 35 sq. m. area horseshoe profile. The purpose of the inspection was to collect data inside the newly-constructed tunnel for general assessment

Statoil Awarded Licenses Offshore Nicaragua

Statoil informs it was today awarded four licenses offshore the Nicaraguan Pacific, covering an area of about 16,000 km2 in the largely unexplored Sandino Basin.   Statoil will be the operator with 85 percent equity with the Empresa Nicaraguense del Petroleo (Petronic) participating with the remaining equity.   Nick Maden, senior vice president for Statoil's exploration activities in the Western Hemisphere, said, “Offshore the Nicaraguan Pacific is virtually untested and the awards of new acreage in this frontier area are in line with our exploration strategy of access at scale.

Ex-Energy Minister to Head Chile State Oil Firm ENAP

Former energy minister Marcelo Tokman will take over as head of Chilean state oil firm Empresa Nacional del Petroleo (ENAP) from May, the country's energy ministry said on Monday. Tokman, who has a doctorate in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, headed the energy ministry for a short time in 2010 under President Michelle Bachelet's previous administration, following a spell running Chile's energy board, where he introduced energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives.
