ONR and ONR Global, respectively, along with the Norwegian PI, Dr. Hanne Sagen, strategized how the experiment could be salvaged. The only other U.S. icebreaker, the USCGC PolarStar, was preparing for its annual deployment to Antarctica. Chartering of commercial ice breakers was not an economically feasible solution.  No other icebreakers were found that had the unique capabilities required to recover the moorings. There were no viable options in the U.S. for the remainder of 2020.  The project would be set back by at least a year and millions of dollars if the moorings were not recovered.

platforms. The licence partners consider gas-fired power to be the most suitable and socio-economic solution for the development,” says Øvrum. Johan Castberg will be prepared for future electrification by use of alternating current technology in case this becomes an efficient and feasible solution in the future. Emissions from Johan Castberg by use of gas turbines will be 0.27 million tonnes of CO2 per year, or 2% of current annual emissions from the NCS. The proposed impact assessment programme covers only the offshore field development, not a possible terminal at Veidnes, which

well during an upcoming drilling and well test campaign. As part of the T-02 platform project, 2H Offshore investigated a wide range of development options to facilitate the exploration well for DP before ultimately proving the conductor supported tripod as the most economical and technically feasible solution. The tripod is designed for installation from a jack-up drilling rig, enabling drilling to commence directly after installation. Leading the detailed design, 2H Offshore undertook the structural design of the subsea template, conductors and topside brace structure while liaising with DP
