Fugro to Map Seabed Off Curaçao for Future Offshore Wind Farms

The Government of Curaçao has commissioned the Dutch offshore survey company Fugro to map the seabed of the island’s surrounding waters for the future development of floating offshore wind farms. The Curaçao Government’s target is to realize 6GW in renewable energy capacity by 2035, which is more than the domestic need for energy, ultimately enabling the production and export of green hydrogen. The survey work by Fugro follows a feasibility assessment by research organization TNO, which concluded that Curaçao’s territorial waters are some of the best in

Fugro Showcases New Survey Ship in Texas

Making her debut at the Martin Midstream Dock in Galveston, Texas, Fugro’s new geophysical survey vessel, the Fugro Americas, was showcased to clients, with more than 100 in attendance, the company announced.   Fugro gave guided tours of the newbuild vessel, with geophysical, geoscience, survey and HSE professionals on hand to demonstrate its state-of-the-art equipment and features along with the working parts of a geophysical survey. Fugro Americas Completes Maiden Voyage

Geophysical survey vessel Fugro Americas completed data collection for a geochemical coring campaign in the Caribbean on June 11, 2015, marking the maiden voyage of Fugro’s newbuild vessel.   Mobilization for the campaign immediately followed the vessel’s departure from the construction shipyard in Louisiana in April. Fugro America, built by Thoma-Sea Marine Construction in Louisiana, was delivered to Fugro in mid-March. The new vessel is designed to Fugro’s specifications, fitted with the latest geophysical survey equipment and houses some of the most advanced instrumentation in the field. Newbuild shallow draft survey vessel Fugro Americas was delivered to Fugro on March 18, 2015.
