first two wells and is expected to increase to 30,000 barrels a day with the commissioning of the third well.   Scheduled to start in 2021, the definitive production phase will integrate a larger FPSO with a processing capacity of 80,000 barrels a day and development of up to nine additional horizontal wells. It will also increase the field’s production capacity to 75,000 barrels a day. QGEP holds a 30 percent interest and is the operator of Block BS-4 and is the only Brazilian operator in the Santos basin pre-salt exclusion zone. Other Atlanta partners include Dommo Energia (40%) and Barra

OPTION Attracts New Partner for Oil Recovery

OPTION (Optimizing Oil Production by Novel Technology Integration) aims to significantly improve simulation tools for the prediction and control of the flow between the horizontal wells and the reservoir – with a focus on enhancing oil recovery. As part of their investment in the project, DONG Energy will contribute with the complete subsurface dataset from the Siri and Stine fields, located in the Danish sector of the North Sea. Dr Michael Kragh Engkilde, Subsurface Manager of Siri Asset at DONG Energy says: “With our ambition to extend the life of the Siri Area, we are

from its deepwater business declined. Shallow-water wells are also cheaper. Using infrastructure left over from earlier drilling, they can be installed for about $10 million; a deepwater well would cost upward of $50 million. The returns, so far, have been good. Each of Saratoga's three horizontal wells are yielding double to triple the initial production of vertical wells. Seismic technology is helping the company to drill deeper, said Clifford. "It's all about getting more bang for your buck," he said. (By Swetha Gopinath and Sayantani Ghosh; Editing by Robin Paxton

, which enabled the customer to improve the drain position, avoid unplanned exits from target reservoirs, and to acquire reservoir knowledge to optimize production. In Northern Europe, a customer used the GeoSphere service to double the reservoir net-to-gross ratio from 0.45 to 0.96 on two horizontal wells with complex geologies. The increased exposure in this thin bed discontinuous reservoir, compared to all previous wells in the field, resulted in a production improvement in both wells of more than 8,000 additional bbl/day

any internal rate of return exceeding 12 percent a year on EQT's equity investment. Aker explain that the business provides services that optimise flows from oil reservoirs. It is strongly positioned within wireline tractor services, which are used to transport well-intervention equipment along horizontal wells, as well as coiled tubing. Its main markets are in the UK and Norway. "The sale is part of a strategy to increase our focus on the deepwater and subsea oil-services markets, where Aker Solutions is well-positioned," said Øyvind Eriksen, executive chairman of Aker Solutions

POLARISTM tool is very effective in drilling “grass roots” wells. The system performed extremely well during a recent drilling campaign carried out in the Niobrara chalk in Kansas USA. The POLARIS tool was navigated with ease and accuracy, rapidly drilling directional, s-curve and horizontal wells.
