DOE Seeks Input on Mooring & Anchoring Systems for Floating Wind
The U.S. Department of Energy is seeking input on research needs related to floating offshore wind energy mooring and anchoring systems. For this, DOE's Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO) has issued a Request for Information (RFI).Apart from input on research priorities, DOE is seeking information on state-of-the-art innovative technologies, state-of-the-practice common operations, and aspirational targets to help meet deployment goals, DOE said.DOE further said that mooring and anchoring topics of interest include technologies, methods, performance, costs, supply chain, U.S. manufacturing

$4.4m Marine Energy Mooring, Anchoring and Quick-connect System Project set for Trials
A new mooring, anchoring and quick connect solution optimized for marine energy systems is set for Atlantic sea trials, following a range of laboratory and on-land test campaigns currently underway. The $4.4m UMACK (Universal Mooring, Anchor & Connectivity Kit) Project has developed a unique mooring and anchoring solution aimed at superseding widely used ‘gravity-based’ anchor solutions – reportedly helping to reduce CAPEX, installation and O&M (Operational & Maintenance) costs by more than 50%.UMACK Project Manager and CorPower Ocean Head of Projects Matt Dickson said the

World's First: DNV Launches Floating Solar Power Recommended Practice
."While FPV is a promising growing industry, there are a number of complexities associated with the installation of floating solar plants. The RP offers insight into the technical complexity of designing, building and operating on and in water, especially in terms of electrical safety, anchoring and mooring issues, operation and maintenance, and designing FPV plants that can withstand site-specific environmental conditions," DNV said.Untapped, Fast-growing TechnologyDitlev Engel, CEO of Energy Systems at DNV said: “Floating solar is an untapped, fast-growing technology with huge potential
