Reassessing Alaska's Energy Frontier
Less than 80 miles from Prudhoe Bay, home to the giant oil fields that feed the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, lies the site of USGS’ latest oil and gas assessment: the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska and adjacent areas. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the NPR-A covers 22.8 million acres, more than the entire state of South Carolina. The new USGS assessment estimates 8.7 billion barrels of oil and 25 trillion cubic feet of natural gas resources.

MakaiLay Software Installed on Prysmian Cable Layer
The cable deployment control software MakaiLay was commissioned on the DP2 cable laying vessel Giulio Verne in November 2017 by the Prysmian Group. It is expected that MakaiLay with its power-cable-specific module will be used by Giulio Verne when it starts installation work for the North Sea Link between Norway and U.K., which will be the longest subsea power cable interconnector in the world upon completion in 2021.
