NOAA Plans Hiring Events in San Diego
NOAA Marine and Aviation Operations will hold two hiring events in San Diego, Calif., on June 4 and 6, to recruit professional mariners to work aboard NOAA’s ocean research ships.NOAA operates a fleet of 15 hydrographic survey, oceanographic research and fisheries survey vessels. NOAA ships are run by a combination of NOAA commissioned officers and civilian professional mariners, and they operate in the U.S.
The Potential of Restoring Marine Habitats
Considering the global initiatives to become nature positive by 2030 [1] and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals [2], the concepts of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) [3] and Marine Net Gain (MNG) are gaining traction [4,5]. Here we explore the potential of marine restoration in contributing to MNG, carbon sequestration, and port decarbonisation, addressing the critical need for effective marine restoration strategies in the face of climate change…
New Support Tool Aids BOP Retrieval
Retrieving an unreliable blowout preventer (BOP) is a necessary but expensive operation, often costing upwards of one or two million dollars or even double in developing ultra-deepwater regions, according to DNV GL, who adds BOP retrieval is also the main cause of downtime during drilling activity. DNV GL has therefore introduced a real-time, risk-informed BOP retrieval decision support tool BOP▪RDT…
Seismic Handling System Contracts for Kongsberg Evotec
Kongsberg Maritime’s wholly owned deck equipment specialist Kongsberg Evotec reports a strong start to the year with three separate new contracts for advanced Seismic Handling systems.
