Work Description:
Ensuring efficient operation and maintenance of main propulsion and auxiliary plants on board as per company requirements and guidance.
Ensuring efficient operation and maintenance of all plants and equipments associated with safety and anti-pollution as per defined by statutory legislation and company procedures.
Ensuring safe and efficient manning of engine department and their knowledge of respective jobs, legislation and company procedure.
Ensuring all new engine officers and ratings are familiar with relevant rules and procedures and train them if necessary.
Maintenance record of all routine (as per PMS) and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with requirements and company procedures.
Ensuring statutory and class surveys are carried out of all plants and equipments covered by such survey requirements.
Maintaining stand-by plants and systems in a complete state of readiness to meet any emergency requirements.
Testing stand-by systems on a regular basis and in accordance with company procedure.
Notifying the master immediately of any defects which may affect the ship safety or put at risk the marine environment.
Assigning engineer officers and ratings specifics roles with respect to the engineering department responsibilities under the safety management system.
Investigating non-conformance and applying corrective action as per company procedure.
Performing regular inspections of all plants and machineries.
Ensuring entry of Oil record book and Engine log book are accurate and up to date as per relevant guidelines.
Ensuring sufficient and safe bunkers on board for planned passage in consultation with master.
Supervising all bunker operations.
Ensuring sufficient and safe quantity of spares and stores on board for efficient operation and maintenance of all plants and machineries.
Keep sound co-operation with company management for efficient and safe running of all plants and machineries, hence the vessel.
