Area of Expertise

  • Strong background and practical experience in Vessel Dynamic Positioning Systems including DP reference systems HiPAP and Sonardyne, DGPS Veripos and C-Nav, Taut wire, CyScan and Fanbeam as well as DP sensors Jill wind, Gyro Meridian and MRU sensors:

-          K-POS (DP2), SDP (DP1) by Kongsberg                                                  

-          Icon (DP2) by Rolls-Royce                                                          

-          Converteam DP2 with main features of DP3

  • Hands-on practice with various type of SCR and Variable Frequency Drives:

  • Advanced skills and extensive experience in troubleshooting and servicing of Programmable Logic Controllers:

  • Understanding and utilizing ladder logic and PLC software:

  • Subsea construction experience on deep water Blowout Preventer Control system.

  • Years of experience with Diesel-Electric Propulsion Systems, Azipull, Tunnel and Azimuth Retractable thrusters by Wartsila and Rolls-Royce

  • Carried out Planned maintenance and fault finding on Diesel Control and Automation Systems including Electronic Speed Control of MAN, Wartsila, Bergen Diesel, MaK and B&W diesels. Understanding principles and logics of Power Management System.

  • Calibrating and repairing auto-pilot and gyro systems based on microprocessor digital and analog technology. Wide experience with fully inter-switched bridge ARPA Radar system with ECDIS by Kelvin Hughes

  • Servicing and maintaining vessel computer networks, vsat satellite communication systems, CCTV and entertainment systems.

  • Maintaining and replenishing stock of spare part for vessel electric/electronic equipment.


WORK EXPERIENCE

September 2013 – now

            Company: Pieterse Rig Contracting Services Ltd

            Position: ET

            Vessel: “Deep Venture”, deep-water conventional Drill ship (upgraded in 2006 and in 2013).

As ET on Drill Ship I had intensive experience with Blowout Preventer MUX Control System of by AXON, Drilling Instrumentation system by BOHR, Crown compensator by NOV, Wire line tensioners, Mud pumps, Drawwork and Top drive by Aker. Strong knowledge of requirements and practices of Explosion proof electrical equipment installation, maintenance and operation in Hazardous areas. Obtained Subsea construction experience.

November 2011 – September 2013

            Company: Stena Marine Management PTE LTD

            Position: SETO

            Vessel: “Global Combination Derrick Construction/Pipelay Vessel, built 2010, DP2(3)             (Converteam), diesel-electric propulsion.

Responsibilities:

As SETO, lead the ETO department which consisted of 5 ETO. Responsible for execution of the planned maintenance and repairs of all vessel Remote Control and Automation systems, Navigation and Communication systems, ER instrumentation, Stinger underwater monitoring system, Propulsion control and DP system. Developed and implemented a number of projects to upgrade and improve vessel CCTV system and Stinger underwater monitoring system.

December 2010 - November 2011

            Company: Stena Marine Management PTE LTD

            Position: ETO

            Vessel: “Global Combination Derrick Construction/Pipelay Vessel, built 2010, DP2(3)             (Converteam), diesel-electric propulsion.

Responsibilities:

As ETO, in addition to basic responsibilities, gained extensive experience in maintenance, repair and operation of Mission equipment such as electrically driven construction crane with capacity of up to 1200 tons by AmClyde, 125 Tons Pipe Tensioners by REMACAT and A&R winch by NOV.

August 2008 – December 2010

            Company: ER Offshore GmbH

            Position: ETO

            Vessel: “ER Athina” UT776CD built 2009, PSV, DP2 (Rolls-Royce), diesel-electric propulsion.

            Vessel: “ER Stavanger” UT755 built 2008, PSV, DP2 (Rolls-Royce)

Responsibilities:

Maintenance of all onboard electrical and electronic equipment including DP, navigational and communication equipment in safe and efficient manner. Planning and execution of all electrical / electronic planned maintenance routines and repairs.

Octoberv2007 – June 2008 

            Company:

            Position: ETO 

            Vessel: “Toisa Dauntless” VS4612 built 2007, AHTS DP1 (Simrad Kongsberg)

            Reason for Leaving: career progression

Responsibilities:

Maintenance of all onboard electrical and electronic equipment, including DP, navigational and communications equipment in safe and efficient manner and participation in planning and execution of all electrical / electronic planned maintenance routines and repairs.
