Deckhand Experience:

Completed over 18 months of training on T/V Ironwood and hands on practical application of knowledge and skills studied; held and performed a variety of Station Bill Assignments; participated and facilitated Safety Meetings, performed vessel rounds while underway, securing for sea, line handling and mooring, stood helms and look out watches while transitioning; launched small boat and rescue boat; small boat ops to place and retrieve tide gauge; performed weekly and monthly preventive maintenance work orders on the small boat, rescue boat, small boat davit, deck winches, crane, capstans, assisted in replacing brake on port gimbal gantry winch; successfully held Deck Bosun Position where my management duties involved; training new cadets and supervising a wide range of projects.

Engine Room Experience:

Spent 180 Days in the engine room of the T/V Ironwood to obtain my QMED and have gained required knowledge working in the engine room department. Examined machinery for specific pressure and flow of lubricants.  Reading of proper pressure and temperature gauges, recording data in the engineer logbook. Held the Engineer of Watch position while underway for at least four hours. Completed projects including disassembling and reassembling ship service diesel generator and completed system drawings.

Formal Training and experience in: Galley management skills; converting recipes, menu planning; Line and prep cooking, hot and cold items, made soups and sauces from scratch, baking experience, knife skills, multi-tasking and organization skills
