Work Activities:

  • Monitored the availability, use, or condition of lifesaving equipment and pollution preventatives to ensure that international regulations were followed.
  • Maintained electrical power, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water, or sewerage systems.
  • Performed general marine vessel maintenance and repair work
  • Operated and maintained off-loading liquid pumps or valves.
  • Supervised the activities of crews engaged in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electrical marine vessels and inspected their work to ensure that it was performed properly.
  • Ordered and received oil and spare parts, maintained inventories, and recorded usage of supplies.
  • Successfully completed Marine Science Technician School Incident Command System (100-300) and Hazardous Material Incident Response School.
  • Qualified Federal on Scene Coordinator Representative.  
  •  Supervised over 300 oil spills and hazardous material clean ups, which include two 70,000 gallon oil spill clean ups and two 1,000,000 gallon acid spills.
  • Ensured compliance with documented Coast Guard safety standards and programs. 
  • Trained in OSHA safety and health regulations.
  • Experienced with laboratory analysis of oil and hazardous materials in soil and water samples.
  • Responsible for sample receipt and log in, verification of analysis, client interaction, waste stream disposal and filling clientele supply demands.
  • Oversaw shipyard periods for over 40 tug and barge units required by the Code of Federal Regulations. 
  • Repaired were everything from small and quick turnarounds to major overhauls
  • Successfully inspected and passed Coast Guard and ABS required inspections on over 100 barges ranging in size from 6,000 BBLS to 130,000 BBLS over a 5 year period
  • Coordinated and supervised all aspects of barge and tug boat repair and modifications to include estimating, bidding and billing
