Working in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. Frequent bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Work on top of and under vehicles in cramped or awkward positions. Perform strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. Frequently carring items weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Lift and move heavier items with the assistance of other workers and with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Work inside and outside. Frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, noise, heat, dust, fumes, oil and grease. Duties: I repair the Major Body Components of the AMG HMMWV Vehicle,1097, 1121 recap and reset bodies. I determine, plan, lay out,perform work from blueprints,specifications, work orders, making independent judgments and decisions within accepted trade practices.I perform journeyman oversight of lower grade workers. Determine extent of repair, replacement rebuild, and/or modification necessary,utilizing a knowledge of vehicle hull layout, changing configurations to restore, modify vehicle hull. Inspect entire hull for such things as mislocated, missing or damaged holes, operation, adjustment of hatches,ramp linkage assemblies, damage, tolerance allowed to tubes, torsion bars, latches, bumpers, hinges, etc. Check for cracks, breaks, tears,delamination of metal, correct parts, location of parts, etc. Assure previous updates are accomplished prior to any additional conversion. Determine method or technique, parts, equipment, etc. required to perform repair, rebuild, modification. Fabricate parts, fixtures, templates, on occasion, using a working knowledge of drawings, sketches, blueprints, and my knowledge of heavy mobile equipment metal body construction. Repair items such as braces, brackets, hangers, etc.

Use the overhead crane to move the structral material over to my work station to begin fitting the pieces to the column or I-beam. Blue prints were provided so that the measurements, angles and lengths on the I- beam could be fabricated correctly. The cutting torch or plasma cutter would be used to cut the I-beam or column to length. Use the stick welding machine to tack weld the pre cut plates onto the I beam or column then would weld it up to be sent out to get painted.
