VideoRay Mission Specialist Wraith ROV

VideoRay’s new Mission Specialist Wraith represents a major leap forward in compact ROV performance, created for operators who need high-power capability without the complexity or footprint of a traditional work-class system. Designed for expeditionary missions, the Wraith brings together power, agility, and adaptability in a way that allows teams to take on demanding subsea tasks with greater speed, confidence, and efficiency.

At its core, the Wraith is engineered to give users greater control in more environments. Ten powerful thrusters deliver true six-Degrees-of-Freedom (6-DOF) maneuverability, enabling the vehicle to fly in any orientation—vertical, horizontal, inverted, or anywhere in between. With up to 80 pounds of forward thrust, operators can transit directly to target, hold position in turbulent conditions, or maintain a stable attitude while performing precision tasks such as inspections or imaging.

This propulsion advantage reduces dependency on drop weights and shortens dive and recovery time at depth, increasing mission throughput and operational efficiency.

Mission-ready performance: The Mission Specialist Expeditionary Wraith is built for operators who need to move fast, carry the right tools, and maintain control in challenging subsea conditions—without the burden of a large topside footprint.

Expeditionary Power in a Compact Footprint

The Mission Specialist Expeditionary Wraith—the first release in the Wraith series—delivers the core strengths operators expect from the Mission Specialist platform, including modular construction and an open architecture that supports flexible integration.

While this initial configuration features a more streamlined payload capacity, it fully supports the essential imaging, navigation, and mission tooling expeditionary users rely on. Just as important, it is intentionally designed as the foundation for a planned spiral development path, enabling expanded payloads, deeper capability, and additional tooling options in future iterations.

Customers gain immediate operational utility today with a clear, cost-effective upgrade pathway as their mission demands evolve.

The Mission Specialist Wraith extends expeditionary ROV capability into deeper, more complex subsea environments.

A larger frame and rugged, transportable design allow operators to carry advanced sensors and tools into challenging environments—from offshore energy inspection and infrastructure assessment to environmental survey, wreck investigation, and expeditionary defense missions. Powered by subsea batteries, the system emphasizes mobility, reduced topside burden, and rapid setup, ensuring crews can deploy quickly and operate effectively even in austere conditions.

Built to Evolve with Your Mission

Wraith’s development roadmap builds on this first release, with each iteration planned to extend the platform’s capability. Future enhancements include:

  • Expanded depth ratings for more extreme subsea operations
  • Increased endurance through larger-capacity power options
  • Additional payload volume and mission tooling flexibility
  • Fly-out configurations that further elevate mission versatility

This customer-driven evolution ensures the Wraith platform remains aligned with emerging subsea technologies and the evolving operational needs of the communities it serves.
